An entertaining cartoon about the anecdotal ‘I know it all’ cat sailor as well as training videos from a world champion were part
of the spinnaker training on Sunday 21st August. This ‘fuelled’ the passion to sail and handle the cat faster than others leading to
exciting close encounters at spinnaker speeds near the markers. Some 14 cats, ranging from the Hobie Dragoon for the kids to
the majestic Multi 23 were part of the growing fleet. Thanks to LDYC’s for their facilities, the catering and for providing
accommodation over the weekend. The next spinnaker events will be on 5‐6 November at Stillbaai Yacht Club and another one
at LDYC again on 19‐20 November. Those events will be a good opportunity for training and finetuning the Hobie 16 Spinnaker
Youth fleet before they go to Hermanus for the Youth Nationals in December
to show the Dinghy sailors what sailing is all about.
